Never let up pressure with Akuma once you are on an offensive roll and keep knocking the opponent down with crossup Hurricane Kicks, Demon Flips, combos into your Shoryuken/Sweep, EX Fireballs and throws.

Neutral game is footsy time. Once you got a UKD it's setup time. If you're under pressure it's defense/throw'tech time.

This is general advice, but in the case of Akuma no one button will ever be your "go to" button for every match up. Your main pokes will be s.HK, c.MK, and c.HK while your main AAs will be c.HP and s.HP. Each of these buttons have their weakness and strengths and in some match ups they shine more than others. A brief overview of Akuma's pokes.

s.HK: One of Akuma's best pokes when both hits can connect. While it is good, you have to be careful when you are using it in a match up where it can potentially whiff the second hit. The best match ups for this poke IMO are Abel, Sagat, Makoto, and Fei. There are other match ups where it can be used in, but many times the spacing is strict enough that c.MK or c.HK may be better options.

c.HK: Another poke which tends to get a lot of hate. It is one of the better sweeps in the game. While it is strong it has two major drawbacks. First is that it is easily focused and I don't just mean normal focus attacks. I mean if you don't have U1 to cover it people can simply Focus right before you throw it out and dash forward for a full combo. No charging required. Average players will not do this often, but top players will. Second it has a fairly large hitable box. While it is fast one of the problems the sweep has is that if two pokes clash (IE both characters threw them out at roughly the same time) the sweep will lose. The sweep excels are whiff punishing and if used carefully can be a good tool. You also need to know what match ups the sweep is unsafe in.

c.MK: An underrated poke. While it is not as flashy as the other pokes one of the biggest benifits of this poke is the tiny hurt box which can allow it to beat other pokes that both s.HK and c.HK do not normally beat. It also has the benefit that in order to focus punish the other character must space the focus and charge it up to level 2. Focus dash forward can not punish this poke.

Setups:
After Demon Flip Throw

Instant Dash, Tiger Knee'd Air Jab Fireball: If done correctly, the fireball will cross the opponent up and it will also allow Akuma to combo after it.

After Forward Throw

Double Instant Forward Dash, Jump: This is a safe jump against all of the cast with 5 frame reversals and normal reversal times.

Double Instant Forward Dash, Cross-up Tatsu: When executed right, this Cross-Up tatsu will go over all reversals, including 3-Frame Shoto Uppercuts.

Instant Single Dash, HK Demon Palm Whiff --> Will land in front of the opponent.
Instant Single Dash, Tiny Walk Forward, Hk Demon Palm Whiff --> Will land behind them. | This setup works against almost every character. I didn't test against the whole cast but I noticed that vs Balrog you have to walk a little further but against the majority of the cast you really don't have to WALK at all. You need to keep the stick holding forward after the first dash and than you can input the demon dive as soon as you see Akuma moving. It seems just one or some pixels will get you behind them.

After Ultra

Wait briefly, Tiger Knee'd Air Jab Fireball: This fireball will also cross the opponent up and will allow Akuma to combo after it.
